Three of Norfolk's brightest motor racing prospects will be racing in the county on Saturday 24 September, as the T-Car championship returns to Snetterton. As well as Mini and endurance racing, the T-Car races, for up and coming 14 to 17-year-old drivers, will provide a homecoming for three young competitors from Norfolk. Ruth Senior, James Williams and Daniel Laddiman will all be racing at the South Norfolk Circuit in saloon cars purpose built for the T-Car championship by SHP Motorsport.

They all run on identical 130 BHP 16valve Vauxhall engines, limited to a top speed of 100 mph. For Laddiman it will be his first taste of competitive racing having recently celebrated his 14th birthday, the minimum age for the series. Despite his lack of experience at this level, it seems the young man from Horstead will be one to look out for this weekend. His practice session times suggest a talent way beyond his tender years. Ruth Senior, 16, from Wymondham is already developing quite a racing pedigree this season, after winning the opening race of the championship in the first meeting at Snetterton in April. She has kept up a high level of performance, flying the flag for the girls by keeping up with the championship leaders. Ruth currently lies fourth in the leader board - quite an achievement for one of only two girls on the tour. In fact, with runaway leader Will Bratt having won 10 of the 12 races so far this season, Ruth is one of only three drivers to have won a race this year. Fifth place in the table is held by the third of our Norfolk trio, James Williams from Norwich. The 14-year-old, competing in his first season of car racing having completed the usual apprenticeship in Karts, is just 20 points behind the more experienced Senior (pun intended). Results have been gradually improving throughout the season, culminating in a fourth place overall finish in the recent round of racing at Mondello Park in Ireland. No doubt he’ll be hoping to improve on that with a podium finish on his home track this weekend. The BRSCC T-Cars Championship remains the only car racing championship exclusively for 14 to 17-year-olds. In only it's fifth full season, the Championship can already boast to have progressed the careers of three newly-crowned 2004 champions in Ryan Lewis (F3), Jonathan Cocker (GT's) and Jonathan Kennard (FPA). Hopes of a fourth race with rallying sensation Matt Wilson, who is currently just two points behind the leader of the British Rally Championship and who made his WRC debut last weekend at the Rally of Great Britain. Entry to Snetterton is free for children, £5 for concessions and £10 for adults.
