Gardening

Tony devises tools for easier gardening

Who is Tony Gipp?

Tony Gipp, vice-president of Gardening With Disabilities Norfolk, devises and adapts tools for easier gardening. He has come up with a number of ways to make sure gardening is a pleasure - and he's shared his ideas here.

Tony shares his passion for making gardening easier by giving demonstrations and lectures.

His message is simple: easier gardening makes good sense for everyone!

Entrepreneur Tony Gipp was a 45-year-old go-getter when a series of heart attacks stopped him in his tracks.

Heart disease combined with back problems could have left him opting for a back seat, but at 63 he shows no sign of slowing down.

Tony's energy is devoted to helping other people get stuck into gardening. It was a therapeutic lifeline for him when he was at a low ebb.

"Everyone needs something - something to lift them and give them a reason to get up in the morning and this is the answer for many people who need to pick themselves up," he said.

Each tool has been tested on his 2.5 acre smallholding in West Norfolk where he and his wife, Barbara, grow organic vegetables.

It was Barbara, a long-time advocate of organic gardening, who lit her husband’s gardening touchpaper.

She also tests many of his adaptations as arthritis takes a toll on her dexterity.
