Success Stories

It can happen to anyone who has a passion for presenting, and it does happen. Here we have some of the success stories from former winners and finalists of the various New Talent presenter schemes.

 

Ravi Sagoo Ravi Sagoo

Ravi Sagoo's Scottish lilt and friendly manner put him ahead of the rest in 2005's New Presenter Scheme. He has been presenting the Asian Network's Chart Show since November 2005.

Ayesha's natural charm, confidence and style were spotted when she entered the Xtra Talent scheme. She was given her own show on 1Xtra and has also presented on CBBC and BBC 7.

Mark Powlett Mark Powlett

Mark Powlett was selected to be the Radio Coventry and Warwickshire breakfast show presenter at the end of 2005, and started in January 2006.

Nelson Kumah Nelson Kumah

After winning 2003's Sports Reporter scheme London born Nelson got to travel to Athens to report on the Paralympics in 2004. He is still working for the BBC as a reporter and producer, mainly for radio.

Hermione Cockburn Hermione Cockburn

Since winning 2002's Science Presenter scheme, Hermione Cockburn has found herself presenting and contributing to programmes both on radio and TV. In 2005 Hermione joined the team on 'Rough Science' as their earth sciences expert.

Sarah-Leigh Barnett Sarah-Leigh Barnett

Sarah-Leigh Barnett was one of the winners in the 2003 search for weather presenters in the English regions. After her initial contract Sarah-Leigh was awarded an additional contract as a weather presenter/reporter for BBC East Midlands Today.
