Director: Gerard Monaco

Age: 28

Brief Biography: I did media and drama at A-Level, went to RADA, became an actor and am now trying to break into writing and directing.

What's the best aspect of directing films? I love the creation process, using your imagination to build a story and world from scratch. The birth and development of an idea is such a rewarding experience. To then work with a group of people and use all their skills to execute the project is fantastic.

And the worst? Not knowing if you’ll be able to convey the ideas in your head onto the screen.

What would you never be on set without? A crew and cast that I trust, respect and that can have a laugh.

Budget for Crusader: £150

Time from idea to delivery: About a year.

Top tip for film making: Trust yourself and make a film that you would like to see yourself.
