Shakespeare in your words

It's 400 years since the country's most famous playwright Shakespeare died, and this weekend Shakespeare fans are celebrating his life.

He's most famous for his plays including King Lear, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

But he didn't just influence the theatre - even our language changed because of him.

It's thought that Shakespeare came up with words like 'excellent' and 'gloomy' which we still use today.

We want to know whether you think Shakespeare is important.

Your Comments

I think Shakespeare is important as he created some of the most famous plays.

Hope, 15, Scotland

I think that Shakespeare is still important because if he didn't write plays we wouldn't be studying them at school or watching them being performed today.
