Plastic power - the new trumpets sounding off in school

25 September 2014 Last updated at 11:39 BST

This school in Tipton has been trying out the UK's first trumpet made completely from plastic.

Trumpets are normally made out of brass and the company who made the plastic trumpet spent a really long time trying to get theirs to sound the same.

The high-tech low-cost trumpets are much more durable than brass trumpets, come in lots of different colours, and are apparently easier to play.

Professional trumpet player Alison Balsom, had a go on the trumpet, and she thinks it's an "amazing invention" and "looks great!"

The company who made the plastic trumpet have also created an all plastic trombone, which was played on stage at last years Glastonbury by headliners Mumford and Sons.
