WW1: Ricky chats to kids in a trench in France

6 August 2014 Last updated at 09:38 BST

For the majority of soldiers during WW1, most of their time was spent in trenches.

Soldiers would eat there, sleep and even go to the toilet in a tiny space with little privacy.

This was all done while defending against the enemy troops, who were only a few hundred metres away.

Ricky has been to the trenches at Vimy Ridge in France to see what conditions were like for soldiers back then, and see what kids today think about it.
