Scottish independence vote - six months to go
- 18 March 2014
On the 18th September the people of Scotland will be asked to vote in a referendum on whether they want to become an independent country or remain part of the UK.
A referendum asks you to vote yes or no to a proposal.
The people of Scotland will be asked the simple question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?"
Scotland has been part of the UK for more than 300 years, so the vote is a huge moment for the country.
Ricky met Lewis and Sarah from Generation 2014, a group of 50 young people who will be 16 or 17 on the 18th September and able to vote in the referendum.
He heard their views for and against Scottish Independence.
