Winners of young photographer contest revealed

A gallery of the amazing photos entered in the RHS Photography Competition this year.
A kingfisher with a fish in its beak
This amazing shot of a kingfisher in action is just one of the amazing photos entered in the RHS Photography Competition this year. Kyle's photo won second prize in the Young Photographer category.
A dog leaping in the air
This bouncing pup was papped by Gabija. The competition is run every year by the world's biggest gardening charity, the Royal Horticultural Society.
A close-up of a leaf
As you'd expect, photos of plants are accepted too. Kate's close-up of a leaf won third prize in the Young Photographer category.
A photo of a starling.
Mateusz's photo of a starling scooped the top Young Photographer prize. Contest judge Chris Collins said: "Mateusz has created a work of great beauty."
A flock of birds against an orange sky
Laura's photo is titled Pigeons Over My Garden and was highly commended in the competition.
A bunch of bright pink colchicums
Genna won the top prize for under-11s for her photo of colchicums. Chris Collins said: “These are tricky flowers to photograph in full sunshine, but she's succeeded brilliantly."
A bird on a wall
Raiyan gave his photo a very thought-provoking title: "Intelligence Without Ambition is a Bird Without Wings". He won second prize for under-11s.
A cactus in bloom
Olivia's cactus earned her third prize for the under-11s.
Three pink flowers
This bright snap was taken by Rebekah and is called The Three Flowers. Carol Sheppard who organised the competition said: "The quality and technical competency of the photographs entered made it extremely difficult to choose an overall winner."
