Anger at comment by UKIP member

UKIP treasurer Stuart Wheeler

A leading member of the political group UK Independence Party (UKIP) has been criticised for saying women were "nowhere near as good as men" at certain things.

Stuart Wheeler, the treasurer of the party, said women were "nowhere near as good as men" at games like chess and bridge.

He made the comment during a debate about EU plans to make big companies appoint more women to top jobs.

But he's faced a big backlash for what he said.

Stuart says he wasn't suggesting women were less intelligent than men but just that they had different strengths.
