A freak storm hits parts of Switzerland with 80 mph winds

Watch the storm blowing away the tents

A powerful freak storm has hit parts of Switzerland, with some areas experiencing winds of up to 80 miles per hour.

The video above captured the moments a major sports event was battered by the gusts.

It shows huge tents being blown away at the Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival in Biel.

Other parts of the country have also been hit by heavy rain and hailstones said to be the size of golf balls!

Geneva Airport has been flooded and several people have been injured by the freak weather.

Weather experts say it's been caused by a mix of snow melting suddenly in the Alps and a return to cooler conditions.
