Ty the Tiger had to have an operation to remove a huge hairball from his stomach.

Staff at the wildlife rescue centre in Florida, where 17-year-old Ty lives, noticed that he wasn't eating properly so they took him to the vet.

After having tests, they found a huge hairball in the tiger's stomach. It was too big for Ty to cough up, so an operation was the only option.

The surgery was a success and the vets managed to remove all of the hairball.

It's usual for tigers to form hairballs after they swallow hair when they're grooming themselves. But normally these usually pass through their system.
