Dog circus teaches kids about responsible pet ownership

Japanese dog circus...

A circus performance featuring some very talented dogs is teaching Japanese school children about responsible pet ownership.

The Wow Wow Dog Circus features dogs jumping ropes, balancing on balls and crossing narrow balance beams.

The show kicks off with a 10 minute speech about how many dogs are abandoned in Japan each year.

It's hoped that kids watching the performance will pass on what they've learnt to others.

The idea of adopting a dog from an animal shelter is relatively unknown in Japan, with most owners buying dogs from pet shops.

The circus show hopes to encourage more people to adopt pets in Japan, where 100,000 dogs are abandoned each year.
