First of sea birds rescued from oil return to wild

The first of the oiled sea birds rescued from the south coast of England earlier this month have been released back into the wild.

More than 300 guillemots and razorbills were taken in by animal charity RSPCA after being covered with a type of oil.

After being cleaned, fed and rehabilitated, 20 of the birds were ready to go home.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency hasn't been able to trace where the oil came from.

It says that, without new information, it's "unlikely" the ship where it came from can be traced.

The RSPCA says it hopes to release the rest of the birds that survived within the next few weeks.
