New Zealand got a special treat - its capital city Wellington hosted the world premiere of the brand new film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The city's airport even had a huge sculpture of some of its characters to get everyone in the mood.
Every premiere needs a red carpet, but this was no ordinary red carpet... it was 500m long! New Zealand was the choice for the premiere because the movie was filmed there.
Thousands of fans lined the streets to celebrate the release of the film. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first of three films that are prequels to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Members of the cast turned out for the premiere including British actor Martin Freeman, who plays the lead role of Bilbo Baggins.
And lots of the fans got dressed up for the occasion too...
...some costumes more impressive than others - this man made an extra effort and dressed up as the wizard Gandalf! The movie's out in the UK on 13 December.
