Nick Grimshaw has officially taken over the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

Grimmy's first words on Monday morning were: "So this is happening, this is actually happening."

He went on to say, "I've been dreaming of this since I was a little child," and joked that he'd be on air "until the country uprises and I get thrown back to the night time".

The first song he played was Paris by Jay-Z and Kanye West. His show is expected to feature more music.

Grimmy's first show featured live phone chats with Doctor Who star Matt Smith and Harry Styles, and a pre-recorded interview with Justin Bieber.

Chris Moyles left the show earlier this month after eight years in the morning hotseat.

Bosses are hoping 28-year-old Grimmy will help attract a younger audience to Radio 1.
