Snails race in alternative Olympics

Watch some of the bizarre events at the World Alternative Games.

Snails have taken part in races at an unusual alternative to the Olympics in Wales.

Other sports at the World Alternative Games were, worm charming, egg roulette, bog snorkelling and backwards racing.

Women were also carried on their husbands' shoulders and lifted over obstacles as part of one race.

The games were thought up when it was announced that London would host the Olympics in 2012.

Taking their inspiration from the Olympics the organisers had their own opening ceremony in Llanwrtyd

A ceremonial container of spa water water was carried through the town to mark the beginning of the event instead of a torch.

There were no prizes for first second and third instead everyone who took part got to take home a special medal.

They plan to hold the event every two years.
