Huge donkey arrives at animal sanctuary

Families got a shock at an animal sanctuary in Lincolnshire when they saw its newest arrival.

The donkey, called Miss Ellie, is two and a half metres tall. That means she might reach to the ceiling in your house!

She was brought over from the US two years ago and towers above all the other animals in the Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary.

Staff there took Miss Ellie in after her owners could no longer look after her.

A worker from the sanctuary said some visitors ask if the donkey is "a freak of nature".

She's an example of the largest kind of donkey breed in the world - called the American Mammoth Jackstock.
