A flock of sheep had to swim for their lives after being swamped by a rising tide.

They had been grazing in the middle of the Leven Estuary in Cumbria when the water started rising.

Ian Joseph, who filmed the sheep paddling back, said: "We could see the tide coming in and it gradually surrounded these sheep... they were literally up to their necks in water in about half an hour."

All the sheep made it back onto dry land according to Ian.
