How has life as a child changed since Newsround went on air 40 years ago? Well, you had far fewer gadgets in the 1970s, that's for sure!

Twins Natalie and Faye live in Wigan with their mum Karen, who's exactly 40 years older than them.

When Karen was a kid, things were rather different - she remembers when microwave ovens first came out!

Back then, you couldn't go on a computer and simply search for something you wanted to find out. In fact, home computers weren't really in existence - hardly anyone had them.

Ricky conducted an entirely un-scientific experiment to return the twins to the 1970s - by taking away all their gadgets and seeing how they coped!
