James is one of the first kids in the UK to get a hearing dog

11 year-old James is one of the first children in the country to get a hearing dog.

James is deaf so his dog Kurt helps to keep him safe; he's been trained to listen out for certain sounds and phrases so he lets James know what's going on around him.

There are around 750 hearing dogs working with adults - but only 12 for kids.

Charities hope that they can train more to help children like James feel safer.
