Abandoned and stray dogs have risen for the 11th year

There's an old saying that we hear every year 'a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.' but it seems people still aren't getting the message.

Many people find the gift of a four legged friend is a lot of hard work and they don't find it easy coping with a new addition to the family and go onto abandon their pets.

Figures from the recent Stray Dogs Survey, show for the 11th year in a row the number of stray and abandoned dogs in Britain has risen.

Last year around 126,000 stray dogs were picked up across the UK - that's more than 300 a day.

Joe's has been to one Kennel to meet the dogs without a place to call a home.
