Watch Joe's report on the 'Mars yard'

Before humans can go to Mars astronauts need to learn more about what life is like on the red planet.

One way they are doing this is by testing rockets in a specially constructed mock-up of the Martian landscape called the 'Mars yard'.

It's got sand and rocks, so experts are testing rovers to make sure that when they're sent to Mars they can navigate the planet without any trouble.

We sent Joe to the 'Mars yard' in Hertfordshire, to find out more.
