Footage of the Southern Lights is captured by Nasa

Space experts at Nasa have released footage of the Aurora Australis - also known as Southern Lights - which is a natural light display over Antarctica.

The unique scene was captured by the International Space Station as it travelled 200 miles above Australia and Antarctica earlier this month.

Experts put togther hundreds of photos that astronauts had taken of the scene to make it into a video.

Despite the spectacular view they were the only ones to see it, as it was too cloudy for anyone to view from the ground.
