Spectacular lava flows down Hawaii volcano

  • 5 August 2011

Spectacular lava flows have been spotted streaming down the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii.

Instead of erupting from the top of the volcano, these bright rivers of lava bubbled up from the base of the volcano.

The volcano has been erupting for nearly 30 years and is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

The lava caused some roads to be closed, it apparently poses no danger to residents.
