  • 11 July 2011

A baby elk has been born in the wild in Scotland for the first time in about 1,000 years!

Elk are thought to have been hunted to extinction in the UK, but four years ago a pair were reintroduced into Scotland from Scandinavia as part of a breeding plan.

Elk are one of several species being re-introduced in Scotland, and the baby elk's arrival is a positive sign that the breeding plan's working!
