- Cyclist Sir Chris Hoy brought his gold medal total up to 6 after London 2012. This is the most gold medals a Brit has ever won, one more than rower Sir Steve Redgrave who had previously held the record.
- In 2012 Oscar Pistorious was the first amputee runner to qualify to compete in both the Olympics and Paralympics. Both Oscar's legs had to be amputated below the knee when he was a child.
- Nicola Adams of Team GB won the first ever women's boxing gold medal.
- The men's 4x100m relay team got disqualified from their semi-final race because the last time the baton needed to be handed over, it wasn't done in time.
- Niger's sculler Hamadou Djibo Issaka finished last in his London 2012 races by a long distance and was nicknamed Issaka the Otter. He'd only been rowing a few months before coming to the Olympics, but he's really proud to have competed.
- USA won the most medals at the 2012 Olympics - a massive 104 in total!
