Loan sharks

In these times of economic hardship, more and more people are turning to loan sharks.

They are illegal of course, and the interest they charge can leave people paying off thousands of pounds for a loan that might initially have been a few hundred.

Our Health and Social Affairs Correspondent, Marie-Louise Connolly, has been speaking to one woman caught in the loan shark trap.

Bob Stronge from Advice NI says they are concerned about the practice because it can lead to threats of violence.

If you are experiencing similar problems, you can get help from Advice NI.  Their number is 90 645919.
