Drunk driver apologises

A man from Londonderry has been jailed for four years for causing the deaths of five young people in a car crash in county Donegal.

Brendan Henderson, who is now confined to a wheelchair, broke down in tears in court as he apologised for the carnage and the devastation he had caused their relatives.

The families said they accepted his apology and were glad the judge had pointed out the young people were in no way to blame.

Our North-West reporter, Keiron Tourish looks at the background to the case.
