Antarctic adventure

A County Down man has become the first blind person to trek to the bottom of the world.

Mark Pollock from Holywood has made history during his epic journey to the South Pole and says the frostbite, tears and pain were all worth it.

He endured temperatures of -50 degrees celsius to travel nearly 1000 miles in 22 days.

His team came fifth in what was the first race to the South Pole since Scott and Amundsen competed against each other in 1911.

Back home in Holywood, he took some time out to talk to BBC Newsline's Chris Page.

His report features pictures from Antarctica which show how remarkable Mark's achievements are.
