Climate change ads

Minister criticised over environmental campaign ban.

The Environment Minister's decision to ban a Government advertising campaign aimed at reducing energy use has been ridiculed by environmentalists.

However, Sammy Wilson remains unapologetic about his forthright and dissenting views on the causes of climate change.

Our Environment Correspondent Mike McKimm broke the story.

His report begins with an impression of what the banned billboard looks like.

Have Your Say

What do you think of the minister's decision?

Given that Sammy will not let us see the campaign it is hard to respond with intelligent argument. However, I can say that I am distinctly angry that Sammy has chosen on personal belief to ignore the opinions of the majority of scientists on this issue. How dare he take that action so ignorantly? He is supposed to be democratic, he should let us make up our own minds!

sammys an idiot and embarrassment

Robert from Belfast
I have never written a letter of this kind before, but on this occasion I felt it absolutely necessary to state my point of view.Does Sammy Wilson think the people of Northern Ireland are all imbeciles, incapable of making an informed decision for themselves? WE ARE NOT !!!I am more than capable of weighing up the pros and cons of such arguments and then reaching my own balanced conclusion.Sammy Wilson will no doubt try to justify the banning of this advert by claiming that it is within his powers as Minister of the Environment. - THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION.He has used an abused his power to impose his own personal beliefs on the rest of us. When this news piece is broadcast nationally and even internationally, Northern Ireland will be seen as "that backwards little country on the outskirts of Europe, with it's narrow-minded beliefs and antiquated ways."Sammy Wilson was elected by the people, to represent the people - not to impose his own personal views on the people. He has done the people of Northern Ireland a great disservice and MUST resign.
