A PSNI officer on the street in Belfast

Police Ride Along

Our reporter Mervyn Jess went on a police ride-along.

Here is some footage shot for his knife crime piece that didn't make it to the final edit.

The first piece features Inspector Phil Menary as he patrols West Belfast and talks to some youths about knife crime. The young men didn't want their faces shown, so we have blurred them out.

They weren't stopped by the police to be searched, but agreed to a search so that Inspector Menary could demonstrate the equipment he uses to search people for knives.
