What is a troll thinking when they send abuse online?

16 November 2014 Last updated at 20:33 GMT

Newsbeat took a victim of trolling to meet a troll.

Earlier this year, 24-year-old Isabella Sorley was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for sending menacing tweets towards the feminist campaigner, Caroline Criado-Perez.

In one of them she threatened to do worse things than rape her.

We wanted to know why and arranged for Sorley to be interviewed by 18-year-old Natalie Farzaneh.

Natalie has been bullied so badly on social media sites in the past, that at one stage she considered taking her own life.

It was the first time Sorley had been brought face-to-face with a victim of online abuse.

If you have been affected by bullying, help is available from BBC Advice.
