'I had a stroke at 20 which left me paralysed on one side'

Elizabeth Ashmore was like most 20-year-olds - she went clubbing, likes Clean Bandit and loves Greg James.

That changed earlier this year when she suffered a stroke. It left her paralysed down one side of her body.

Now 21, she describes the feeling of being paralysed as being like carrying three heavy sandbags around with her.

Although it mainly affects people in their 60s, the most recent NHS figures for England show that more than a 1,000 people under 30 were admitted to hospital in the year 2011/12 because of a stroke.
