Was Zayn Malik announced as winner instead of Fifth Harmony?

Zayn Malik

It seems Zayn Malik has been given a prize that was actually meant for Fifth Harmony.

Fans thought he'd won best video at the iHeart radio awards for Pillowtalk, after seeing it announced on Snapchat.

But the real winners were US girl group, according to the official website, for Work From Home video featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

So it looks like the Hollywood curse of people getting the wrong awards continues.

"I'm currently in Paris, sorry I can't be there. A little birdie told me that I've actually won an award, so thank you very much," Zayn said.

But the "wrong birdie" might have told Zayn he won the award, as iHeart tweeted it was Lauren, Ally, Normani and Dinah who actually won.

And the girls, as well as fans, seemed a bit shocked.

And Ty Dolla $ign was definitely a bit confused.

And for those thinking it might be someone running the social media account who got it wrong, well their website pretty much confirms the mistake too.

Zayn did win best solo breakout.

Fifth Harmony won best fan army and best cover song for Ex's and Oh's which they covered in the Radio 1 Live Lounge.
