David Hasselhoff to appear in new Baywatch film starring The Rock and Zac Efron
David Hasselhoff will appear in the new Baywatch film, 15 years after the TV series ended.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed the news in an Instagram update about the movie but didn't reveal what role the star would play.
"The Hoff" played LA lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch between 1989 and 2001 and also produced the series.
The new movie also stars Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Priyanka Chopra and Hannibal Buress.
Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Undefeated and Identity Thief) is directing the film with the screenplay being written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th and Freddy vs. Jason).
The Rock, who will play David Hasselhoff's original part - Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon - in the film, has been posting plenty of pictures from the set of the Baywatch film.
The film is due for release next year.
If you're unfamiliar with Baywatch - it was a US TV show about lifeguards.
It wasn't about lifeguards who sit staring at the clock at the local leisure centre.
No, it was about lifeguards on Malibu beach in Los Angeles and it was exciting.
They looked good and they saved lives.
Pamela Anderson, in character as CJ, was always giving CPR to someone - usually after they'd been stranded in a cave somewhere.
Imagine Holby City on the beach but without clothes - that's Baywatch.
Everyone was always in a rush too. Lots and lots of running - but all the female lifeguards would be shown in slo-mo.
The music to the opening sequence of Baywatch was sort of like the 90s version of the Gogglebox theme.
No matter what you were doing you stopped what you were doing and you watched.
