Bassist Jeremy Davis quits Paramore but band promises to 'continue'

Paramore say they will "continue" making music after announcing bassist Jeremy Davis is leaving the band.

Hayley Williams and Taylor York say they will carry on as a duo and are "hopeful for Paramore's future".

In a statement on social media the band says: "We've written and re-written this countless times and there's just not a good way to put it...

"Jeremy is no longer going to be in the band with us. To be honest, this has been really painful."

Paramore was formed more than 10 years ago and the original line-up also featured brothers Josh and Zac Farro. The pair left in 2010.

"These last few years have held some of the most fulfilling moments we've had yet... as people, as friends, and as a band," say Paramore.

"The Self-Titled era was one that we knew would be important for us but also one we'd eventually have to move on from.

"In moving forward, there is growth, pain, and change... and sometimes the change is not at all what you hoped for."

The upcoming Parahoy cruise is set to go ahead.

The trip, from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico, takes place in March 2016 and will see Paramore joined by bands such as Chvrches and New Found Glory on board a ship for four days.

"Thank you all for your support and your belief in us. It's kept us going," say Paramore.

"We will see some of you really soon on Parahoy. If you're not coming on the cruise, we will still see you in 2016."
