Little Mix have issued a statement on their website saying they have cancelled their upcoming North American Salute tour.

They tell their 'US Mixers' its because they want to continue work on their next album.

In the statement ticket-holders are told they will get a full refund from where they purchased their tickets.

The 2011 X Factor winners were due to play 19 dates across the US in September and October.

So sorry

The group say: "As a group we decided that creating an amazing 3rd album had to take priority.

"We're so sorry to all the Mixers who bought tickets to come and see the show. As soon as the album is finished, we promise to make plans to return to the US and perform for you all."

The band's first album was the highest charting debut album by a UK girl group in America last year.

DNA went straight into the Billboard charts at number four.
