Reality TV star Sam Faiers has been diagnosed with Crohns Disease after being ill for more than six weeks.

The 22 year old first became unwell when she was in the Big Brother house last month.

She was taken to hospital twice during the reality TV show after collapsing with stomach cramps.

The TOWIE star's publicist told Newsbeat "I can confirm Sam has very recently been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease."

Earlier in the month she tweeted a picture from a hospital bed with a drip in her arm while doctors were trying to find out what was wrong.

Crohn's Disease is an inflammation of the gut and can flare up every so often.

The most common symptoms are diarrhoea, abdominal pain and feeling generally unwell.

Sam recently opened up about her illness to OK magazine.

"I've been ill for six weeks. I'm better than I was but I'm still not 100% and I'm still having tests done," she said.

"I was a good size eight before the show but over the course of two weeks in the house I lost a stone and a half.

"I just couldn't keep food down. It was horrible."
