Strictly Come Dancing contestant Patrick Robinson has suffered a hand injury which he thinks could see him "out of the competition".

The Casualty actor posted a message online confirming the news a day before the next live heat of the BBC1 dance show.

He told his followers on Twitter: "Owwwww! My hand is not good... Might be out of competition."

In this week's show he was due to dance a salsa to song Wings by Little Mix.

The routine included three lifts, but now it looks like he will not be able to manage to get professional partner Anya Garnis airborne.

Show bosses are now trying to find out exactly how serious the injury is and if the dance can be adapted in time.

He has already been in pain during the contest.

Earlier in the series Robinson was forced to wear supports on both knees after excessive training for the jive left him with sore joints.

In last Saturday's edition of the show, he finished with 33 points from the judges - putting him just behind joint leaders Natalie Gumede, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Abbey Clancy.
