Elbow announce new album and UK arena tour for 2014

Elbow have announced details of a new album and a UK arena tour for 2014.

The eight-date tour, which starts in Birmingham on 6 April, marks the band's first live dates for more than a year.

Their sixth studio album, being recorded at their own Blueprint Studios in Salford, will be released on 10 March 2014.

Elbow's keyboard player Craig Potter is producing the album. He also produced their two most recent albums, Build A Rocket Boys! and The Seldom Seen Kid.

Both albums were nominated for the Mercury Prize with The Seldom Seen Kid winning the award in 2008.

Their debut album, Asleep in the Back, was also on the shortlist for the prize in 2001.

The band wrote the BBC theme for the 2012 London Olympics, First Steps.

Fans will be able to pre-order the new album for a limited time on the band's website.

Although the new record is yet to be officially named, NME claims singer Guy Garvey says the working title is All At Once.

Tickets for all arena shows go on general sale at 9am on Friday 4 October with a pre-sale starting at 9am on Monday 30 September.
