Cardiff, Hull & Palace fans on Premier League hopes

Hull, Palace and Cardiff

As ever, there are three new names on this weekend's Premier League fixture list.

Crystal Palace won the play-off final to join Hull City and Cardiff City in the top flight.

Cardiff have never played in the Premier League before and had missed out on promotion several times before winning the Championship last season.

Palace last appeared in the top league in 2005, and Hull in 2010.

Only twice have all three promoted sides beaten the drop and you can get odds of 6-1 of that happening again.

Newsbeat spoke to fans from all three sides ahead of their opening matches.

Louis Suddaby, 22, is a Hull City supporter

How do you think you'll do this season?

"A lot of the previews tend to have Hull and Palace as the bottom two, but I think we'll surprise a few people.

"A big ace in the pack for us is our manager Steve Bruce - he's got so much experience in the Premier League.

"He knows what it takes to get a side there and keep a side there."

Who should we watch out for?

"I think Sone Aluko will be a big hit.

"He's quick, he's got a trick about him, he's got good movement and he'll score goals."

Ollie Smith, 27, is a fan of Cardiff City

How do you think you'll do this season?

"It's going to be tough. Survival is definitely the number one priority for us.

"I'm a long-time Cardiff supporter so pessimism is pretty much the number one thing on the board.

"We've spent a lot of money, more than I thought we would.

"But on the other hand you can spend a lot of money and it doesn't always work."

Who should we watch out for?

"Steven Caulker - he's only young and seems to be quite a mature centre back.

"We've also signed a Chilean player called Medel.

"I'm quite excited about him, but looking at his disciplinary record, I'm afraid he'll be the next Joey Barton."

Grace Mathieson, 17, supports Crystal Palace

How do you think you'll do this season?

"I think we might surprise some people because we're dead certs to go down.

"I love Ian Holloway. I think he's brilliant.

"He's got that reputation which has allowed us to sign players like (Marouane) Chamakh."

Who should we watch out for?

"Now (Wilfried) Zaha has gone to (Manchester) United it's left a void, because people don't recognise anyone in our team.

"We've got a brilliant little guy called Jonny Williams. His nickname is 'Jonniesta' after Iniesta which gives you an idea of what he's like."
