Ant and Dec heading for chart success as PJ and Duncan

Ant and Dec as PJ and Duncan on ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway

TV presenters Ant and Dec could get a surprise number one single after performing their PJ and Duncan song Let's Get Ready to Rhumble on ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway.

The pair resurrected their musical alter-egos as part of a Big Reunion feature alongside Atomic Kitten, Blue and 5ive.

Following their performance, fans started downloading the original PJ and Duncan AKA track which peaked at number nine in the Official Chart in 1994.

By Tuesday morning 35,000 copies of the song had been sold, landing Let's Get Ready to Rhumble in an early number one position but it would need to beat current chart topper What About Us by The Saturdays featuring Sean Paul.

Declan Donnelly tweeted: "I didn't think this week could get any more nuts….then someone sent me the midweek chart! You're all mad."

Ant and Dec are also donating their royalties from sales of Let's Get Ready to Rhumble to the charity Childline.

Radio 1's Official Chart Update with Scott Mills and Jameela Jamil takes place on Wednesday, 27 March between 15:30 - 16:00 GMT.
