Arctic Monkeys plot new album release in 2013

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys' drummer Matt Helders has said the band are aiming to release their fifth album in 2013, adding they're "definitely happy" with the material they've written so far.

Helders said: "Hopefully we'll get it out this year - that's the plan."

The Sheffield band released their most recent album Suck It And See in 2011.

The band will play shows in the US and Europe this summer, including a headline appearance at Spain's Benicassim in July.

Short 'break'

Speaking to Newsbeat at last month's NME Awards, Helders said the group hadn't recorded anything "specifically for the record yet".

He added: "We've just been working stuff out with the band. Nothing serious yet.

"It's just been us four working stuff out like we used to I guess.

"We had a bit of a break. It's always weird when you first get back into it to know what kind of songs we write any more."
