Singer and actress Bridgit Mendler wants Hollywood role
With her debut single Ready or Not getting plenty of airplay in the UK, Bridgit Mendler's music career is definitely on the rise.
She released her debut album Hello My Name Is... last year, which made it to number 30 on the Billboard 200.
The 20-year-old says the lead track from the album was put together towards the end of the writing process.
"It was actually towards the end that we wrote Ready or Not and one of the writers brought in the Fugees track Ready or Not and showed us the music video," she says.
"Just for fun we started experimenting with the song and seeing what our version would sound like. It wound up turning into Ready or Not."
Bridgit Mendler performed Ready or Not on the second series of X Factor USA last year and has toured in North America.
She also played the Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, where she met Gangnam Style singer - Psy.
"It was so cool," she says. "I was doing these Jingle Ball shows last winter, which was unlike anything I've ever done in my life.
"There was a 17,000 person audience at one point. I got to meet all these superstar performers. I met Psy. I complimented his shoes and he told me, 'You are a beautiful woman.'"
But the star, who was born in Washington DC and grew up in San Francisco, started her career as an actress with Disney.
She plays Teddy Duncan on Good Time Charlie, had a role on Wizards of Waverly Place and had a small spot on the television series House.
But she says what she really wants is a role in an action movie.
"Both acting and music are important to me," she says.
"Looking towards the future, I'm working on Good Luck Charlie season four but I would love to work on movies.
"I'd love to do an action movie role, like the Avengers. That's shooting for the stars obviously but that's the dream."
