Taylor Swift chooses Ed Sheeran as support on US tour
Ed Sheeran has confirmed he is to support Taylor Swift on her North American tour.
The singer tweeted: "Happy to announce that I am special guest on @taylorswift13's tour of North America next year, cannot wait!!
"9 stadiums and 36 arenas. Gonna be bonks."
Taylor Swift's Red tour, named after her new album of the same name, begins in March 2013 and goes on until the end of September.
The US star has dueted with Ed Sheeran on a track called Everything Has Changed, which she said the pair wrote together on a trampoline.
During a web chat in August, she told fans: "Ed Sheeran is one of my favourite people in the world.
"He's so cool and he's such a great artist.
"We wrote a song while sitting on a trampoline that we loved so much that we ended up recording it as a duet."
Ed Sheeran will find himself playing to some big crowds on the tour.
The dates include venues like the Dallas Cowboys' stadium and Chicago's Soldier Field.
Taylor's new album, Red, is expected to top the US Billboard album chart in the coming days, with predicted first week sales of more than a million.
