Nicki Minaj slams critics after pulling V Festival gigs
Nicki Minaj has hit back at people who criticised her decision to pull out of last weekend's V Festival.
The rapper was due to play the 4Music stage at the Essex and Staffordshire events (18 and 19 August).
Festival organisers said the 29-year-old had cancelled due to "on-going vocal problems".
"I will NOT let you people make me feel horrible for a HEALTH issue! That's what got me in this mess!" she wrote on Twitter.
"I was in jeopardy of losing my voice entirely and needing surgery on my vocal chord. I shldve listened 2 the doctor!"
The rapper also cancelled a show at Dublin's Olympia.
"Like people are hitting me telling me I shldve mimed. No!" she wrote.
She did thank fans who had sent her "well wishes", adding "U know how much I hate disappointing u guys."
Minaj has since removed some of the comments from her Twitter page.
The US star is due to begin a full UK arena tour in Nottingham on 21 October.
The Pink Friday Reloaded tour will also stop in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, London, Sheffield and Cardiff.
Nicki Minaj released her second album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in April with her track Starships reaching number one in the singles chart.
