American rockers Weezer are to host a 'festival' taking place on a cruiseliner.

The event, called the 'Weezer cruise', will see the band invite festival-goers aboard a ship departing from Miami on 19 January.

It will sail to Cozumel, Mexico, before returning four days later.

On board the group will perform indoor and outdoor sets along with other bands including Dinosaur Jnr, Wavves and Yuck.

"We'll be performing live on the open deck of the ship but also bringing some of our closest friends," said lead singer Rivers Cuomo.

Activities also include swimming pools, water slides, relaxation decks, a casino, mini-golf, ping-pong, shuffleboard and karaoke.

Tickets for the event, which include a personalised photo with Weezer, range from $699 (£437) to $2,899 (£1,815).

Weezer performed at the Sonisphere festival held at Knebworth in Hertfordshire last weekend.
