Halle Berry quits film to fight custody battle
Actress Halle Berry has left a film job to concentrate on fighting a custody battle for her daughter.
The Monster's Ball star was due to start working on rom-com New Year's Eve this week in New York, but her publicist said she has backed out to focus on the legal row.
Berry and her ex-boyfriend, Canadian supermodel Gabriel Aubry, are fighting for custody of two-year-old Nahla.
Her publicist did not say where or when the case would be heard.
In January, it was reported that Aubry had asked Los Angeles Superior Court to recognise that he would share custody with Berry.
Nahla was born in March 2008, but her parents broke up in April 2010, with Aubry since rumoured to have dated US TV star Kim Kardashian.
Although Berry has left New Year's Eve, the film still boasts a massive list of top stars, including Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro, Sienna Miller, Jon Bon Jovi, Sarah Jessica Parker and Lea Michele.
Katherine Heigl will replace Berry in the movie.
