Rocker Josh Homme 'died on operating table'

Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens Of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures singer Josh Homme has said he "died on the table" during an operation last year.

The rocker was having surgery on his knee in autumn 2010 when he experienced "complications".

Speaking to music magazine NME he said: "It gave me great perspective, and it's amazing to be alive."

Homme added that he spent three months in bed recovering after having the work on his leg finished.

"I've never done that before so I had time to reflect," he added.

"I got cleared in December to walk around again and get out bed."

After releasing an album with side-project Them Crooked Vultures in 2009 the frontman says he will now focus on Queens Of The Stone Age.

They plan to re-release their self-titled debut album this year via UK label Domino.

This week Homme also told Radio 1's Zane Lowe that the band will play a handful of small club gigs in the UK "pre-summer" to support the release before focusing on a new album.
