Teenager Maya Van Wagenen has landed a film deal with Steven Spielberg after he bought the rights to her diary.

After being bullied at school, the 15-year-old decided to change her life trying tips from a book given to her by her father.

Betty Cornell's Teenage Popularity Guide was written in the 1950s and includes guides to clothing, hairstyles and posture.

The diary she wrote during her experiment has been published as a novel called Popular, with a release date for the film yet to be announced.

Maya was talking to Newsbeat entertainment reporter Nesta McGregor.
